A renowned scientist has made a groundbreaking claim that the Turin Shroud, a centuries-old linen cloth bearing an image of a crucified man, is indeed the burial cloth of Jesus Christ.

Prof Liberato De Caro, a committed Catholic and deacon, has conducted an extensive x-ray study that dates the shroud back 2,000 years, contradicting previous claims that it was a medieval hoax.

The shroud, measuring 14ft 5in by 3ft 7in, has been venerated by Catholics for centuries, with many believing it was used to wrap Christ’s body after his crucifixion.

Despite repeated claims of authenticity, the shroud’s origins have been disputed.

However, De Caro’s research has found an “enormous quantity of evidence” supporting its authenticity.

The study revealed that the shroud’s linen threads show a high correlation with the Gospels’ account of Jesus’ death, including thorn marks on the head, lacerations on the back, and bruises on the shoulders.

In addition, the shroud’s stains contain traces of hemoglobin and serum albumin, proteins found in human blood.

While previous research in the 1980s suggested the shroud was a medieval forgery, Prof De Caro’s team used a new technique called wide-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) to date the material, confirming it was manufactured around the time of Jesus.
