BREAKING: Army Confirms Arrest Of IPOB Founding Father | Daily Report Nigeria
  • The Nigerian troops have arrested a man, who is said to be the founding father of the IPOB movement.

  • Confirm the arrest, the Nigerian military noted that the man was arrested during an operation by the troops.

The Nigerian military have secured the arrest of one Pius Iguh, who is said to be the founding father of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The military confirmed he was arrested following an operation by the troops attached to Operation Udoka in the Southeast region of Nigeria.

This operation led the troops to the group’s hideout in Orsu, Imo State, Amaruku and Arochukwu in Abia State.

Three other notorious members of the group were also arrested during the operation.

 

Confirming the incident and arrest, the Director of the Defence Media Operations, Edward Buba in a press briefing said a total of 24 terrorists were killed while 12 violent extremists were arrested by military troops.

He also added that an hostage who was abducted by the group was reached and handed over to relevant authorities for further actions.

“Troops at Forward Operation Base, Orsu, conducted a sting operation that culminated in the arrest of an IPOB terrorist leader.

“The arrested terrorist leader, identified as Pius Iguh, is a founding father of the ESN group in the Orsu general area of Imo State,” Buba said
