Group of lawyers under the auspices of Izon Lawyers Forum paid an on-the-spot-assessment visit to the Bomadi Local Government Council, headquarters in Bomadi town to inspect projects the Council Chairman, Hon. Andaye Rawlings Dagidi is executing.

The lawyers led by Mr. Collins Gesikeme-Akebofa visited the Bomadi Council Boss in an entourage of nine legal practitioners on Friday November 1, 2024.

Amongst the lawyers in the convoy are: Collins Gesikeme-Akebofa, E. U. Opukiri, Funebi Edonyabo, Clement Oloye Sarzene, Alaowei Cleric Ebikonbowei, Ganagana Ebanor, Rt. Hon. Lambert Perefuo and Hon. Martins Zimughan.

In an interactive forum with the Chairman at his office in Bomadi which was well attended by the Vice Chairperson of the Council, Leader of the Bomadi Legislative Arm, Secretary to the Local Government Council and all the Supervisory Councillors, the Bomadi Council Chairman itemized the projects they have executed within three months of assumption into office.

In his briefing, he said: “we have embarked on a good number of projects at this Council headquarters wherein some are already completed while others are ongoing. We will sure complete all of them by three months’ time with God on our side.

“We have built a pavilion of one thousand capacity, constructing a five thousand capacity auditorium to host bigger events, especially political campaigns and others.

“Similarly, we’re also constructing a LG Chapel in the Council Secretariat for our morning devotional programmes; Vice Chairman’s Lodge for our Vice Chairperson; access roads to link the LGC Secretariat and the Chairman/Vice Chairman’s lodge amongst others.

“In addition to the above, we’re also embarking on skills acquisition programmes for our youths. Presently, we have engaged 190 youths on various skills acquisition programmes. We shall give them starter packs as soon as the trainings are concluded.

“We also made provisions to pay some women who are advanced in age across the LGA in every month.
On the High Court of Justice, sitting at the Bomadi judicial division. I was challenged by a remark of the Chief Judge of the State when she gave her speech during the commissioning of the High Court Complex, Asaba.

“She decried the deplorable state of the Bomadi High Court and said it’s a shame that there’s no Judge’s lodge in that court. I have to take the pain to rehabilitate the Courtroom, construct the access road to the court and build a befitting Judge’s Lodge.

“When the dry season comes, we will tour round the communities in the LGA in order to know which projects to be embarked upon for the communities”.

In his response on behalf of the lawyers, Mr. Collins Gesikeme-Akebofa commended the Council Chairman. He said:

“we came to see for ourselves what we read on the pages of newspapers and we have confirmed that they are true. We’re convinced with the level of your performance within a space of three months. We pray that you complete these massive projects in record times as you promised.
The Governor needs to see what is happening here for himself.

“We appeal to His Excellency, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori to support the Chairman. The Chairman needs support to complete these massive projects.

“As for the High Court building in Bomadi which is serving three local governments areas in the State, i.e, Bomadi, Burutu and Patani respectively. It was a big concern to us for seeing this Court in such a deplorable condition, to the extent that the court has to relocate to Ughelli and be sitting there. This is our primary constituency.

“We’re happy with what the Chairman has done. The entire judiciary, including the CJ, will be happy with what you are doing. We encourage you to complete what you have started. Do not hesitate to tell us any area where we can be of assistance to you. We’re very ready to partner with you. ”

The high point of the occasion is where the Council Chairman took the lawyers to tour around the projects he is executing. Indeed, Hon. Dagidi’s developmental milestones have surpassed the capacity and the constitutional mandates of a Council Chairman to execute projects.

Only three months of sitting in that office, he has already put an indelible mark of development that will forever speak good of him. His colleague chairmen in the country may need to borrow a leaf from him.
