Driver, Conductor Set LASMA Official On Fire | Daily Report Nigeria

  • A commercial driver and his assistant gave been arrested for assaulting a LASMA Official.

  • The driver, with his conductor being his accomplice reportedly set the LASMA Official on fire.

A driver and his conductor have been arrested by the operatives of the Logos State Traffic Management Authority, LASMA for assisting an official.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the duo assaulted the official by pouring petrol on his body, before proceeding to set him on fire in the Cele area inward Mile 2 axis of Lagos.

The duo, who were trying to evade arrest were captured in a disturbing video as they poured petrol on the LASMA Official during a violent confrontation.

 

Confirming the incident,the LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, said;

“The altercation occurred Tuesday, November 5, 2024, after LASTMA officials intercepted the vehicle for violating traffic regulations near Cele, heading toward Mile 2.

The vehicle had been intercepted for violating traffic regulations in the Cele inward Mile 2 area. In the course of the arrest, the driver and his conductor erupted into a frenzy, resorting to pouring petrol on LASTMA personnel and engaging in hostile confrontations and physical attacks against officers present.”

 

He further stated that the injured official was rushed to an hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

“LASTMA reiterates its unwavering commitment to preserving order and ensuring the safety of Lagos roads, as stipulated in the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018.”
