Delta State House of Assembly on Wednesday announced the suspension of Hon. Chukwudi Dafe, representing Ukwuani State Constituency, for alleged misconduct.

The suspension, which will last for two weeks, follows a motion raised by the Majority Leader, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, and seconded by the Chief Whip, Hon. Perkins Umukoro, during the Assembly’s plenary session.

The exact nature of the alleged misconduct remains undisclosed.

Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, the Speaker of the Assembly, confirmed that a committee would be set up to investigate the matter, urging members to respect the process.

This decision was made as the Speaker also extended heartfelt condolences to President Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian Army, and the family of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, who passed away at the age of 56.

Speaking on behalf of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Guwor prayed for the repose of General Lagbaja’s soul, while also conveying sympathy to the people of Osun State and the Lagbaja family.

Prof. Utuama passed away last weekend, and Speaker Guwor led a moment of silence in his honour, praying for the strength of the Utuama family and the people of Ughelli South Local Government.
