A group of bandits have attacked a Niger community, killing and kidnapping in the process.

A handful of bandits have raided a community in Niger State, causing mayhem one the process.
The bandits, who were said to have been riding on motorcycles as they enter the village killed over 10 people in the wee hours of Tuesday, November 6 when they were preparing to go to their farms in the Wayam community of Sabon-Gari District in the Rafi Local Government Area of the state.

According to a source, the bandits rode into the town shooting sporadically to scare people.
The source also revealed that the bandits slaughtered women who refused rape while others proceeded to set houses, shops and barns ablaze.
“The bandits came into the village very early in the morning. They were riding on motorcycles in large numbers and shooting sporadically to scare the villagers.

“Some of them burnt houses and barns. At least 10 people were killed. Some died from bullet wounds.
“Some women who refused to be raped were slaughtered. They attacked us for several hours and there was no security presence throughout the time,” the source said.
