Comrade Joseph Evah, President/Coordinator of the Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG), will launch children’s deworming program in Oporoza, Warri South West Local Government Area, Delta State, on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

The initiative, which targets the health and well-being of children in the Niger Delta region, aims to reduce the burden of intestinal worms, a leading cause of malnutrition, anemia, and poor health in children.

Evah, through the Ijaw Female Students’ Association (NAIFS), has been a long-time advocate for the promotion of health, economic development, and peace in the Niger Delta.

His latest program is part of his continued efforts to tackle pressing health challenges faced by communities in the region.

The deworming exercise, which will take place in Oporoza, is expected to make a substantial difference in the health outcomes of children who are often affected by intestinal worms.

These worms are a significant cause of malnutrition and other health-related issues, particularly among the poor and underserved communities of the Niger Delta.

“This initiative is very close to my heart because of its direct impact on the well-being of our children,” Evah stated in a press release ahead of the event. “Intestinal worms have long been a health concern in our communities, and this deworming program is a proactive step toward ensuring our children grow up healthy and strong.”

Evah further emphasized the importance of community involvement in the program’s success. “By working together with local leaders, parents, and health workers, we can ensure that every child receives the necessary care to help them thrive,” he added.

The Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG), led by Evah, has been instrumental in addressing various social issues in the Niger Delta.

The group’s efforts extend beyond health, also focusing on peacebuilding and economic development.

Evah’s commitment to improving the lives of people in the region underscores the broader mission of the Ijaw Monitoring Group to ensure sustainable development and quality healthcare for all.

Community leaders and health professionals in Oporoza have expressed strong support for the program, which they believe will lead to healthier and more productive generations in the future.
