The posters, bearing the message, “Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for President, 2027. He is our Messiah,” surprised many residents, as the groups behind them and their motives remain unknown, especially since it has been just a year into the Tinubu administration.
While it has become common for Nigerians, particularly in Kano, to reflect on and praise the perceived successes of Jonathan’s administration, the widespread appearance of these posters introduces a new political development.

Meanwhile, Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, have consistently denied any interest in a presidential bid.
However, the sudden appearance of these campaign posters across Kano may alter the narrative.
