  • A rather controversial and annoying event has played off in Zamfara state, after bandits reject ransom.

  • The bandits were said to have rejected a three million naira ransom of 26 abducted people.

A gang of bandits who abducted people from a Zamfara village have rejected ransom offered to them.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the bandits abducted a total of 26 people in the Gidan-Goga district in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State in the early hours of Sunday, December 8, 2024.

While speaking with Punch on Monday, one Abubakar Shehu, a resident of the village revealed that the bandits abducted his neighbor, as well as his three daughters.

He added that a total of 26 people were abducted, including 19 females and six males.

 

“We raised N3m to offer to the bandits, but they rejected it,” Shehu lamented.

“When we informed their leader about the amount, he dismissed us, saying we were not serious, and then switched off his phone. Since then, we have been unable to reach him.”

“The bandits attacked our community on Sunday and took away 26 people, all of whom are my neighbours. They contacted us to demand payment for their release but did not specify the amount they wanted.” He added

Shehu also added that the village has become a constant place for bandits attack, and after reporting to the security agents, nothing is being done.

We have informed the security personnel in the local government, but nothing has been done to address the situation. This is not the first time our village has been attacked,” he said
