A market has reportedly been shut down in Kano state, over allegations of prostitution and other immorality being operated there.
It was gathered that the local government shut down the market following credible information about the involvement of youths and married women in the activities.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the decision was made by the Garun Mallam Local Government Area of Kano, as it shut down Kwanar Gafan Tomato Market
Confirming the incident, the Council’s Chairman, Aminu Kadawa said the traders and other occupants of the market were given a seven-day warning to vacate the market.
He said:
“Looking at how the market has become a centre for prostitution and other immoral activities contrary to the purpose of the market, it has to be closed indefinitely to restore sanity and .”

Also confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Tourism and Management, Aisha Saji, said during her tenure, she tried to curb the illicit act, as she paraded the market with security Operatives, as well as men of the Hisbah Board.
She added that a total of 43 individuals, including 34 females and nine males aged between 15 and 18, were arrested for prostitution and illegal sale of alcoholic substances.
Shockingly, 14 of the arrested individuals were confirmed to be HIV-positive, with 10 aware of their status, while four were unaware.
The suspects hailed not only from Kano, but also from neighbouring states, including Adamawa, Anambra, Bauchi, Benue and Taraba,”
