Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 Lagos governorship election, has expressed his intention to contest the position again in 2027.
During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Rhodes-Vivour reaffirmed his determination to become the Governor of Lagos State, stating, “By God’s grace, yes,” when asked about his plans for the 2027 governorship race.
Rhodes-Vivour, who secured 312,329 votes in the 2023 election, finishing second to Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasized the need for unity among opposition parties.
He noted that the lack of cohesion among opposition parties would render any future attempts to contest the governorship position futile.

“I believe that if all parties do not come together, it is going to be a waste of time running in 2027 because there is a full state capture happening in this country now,” Rhodes-Vivour said.
While Rhodes-Vivour did not confirm whether he would remain with the Labour Party or contest under a different platform, he stressed the importance of building a strong party.
“For now, my job is to ensure that I have a strong party – Labour Party,” he added.
