BREAKING: WAEC Launches Resit Exams for WASSCE Candidates in January 2025

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced an innovative initiative that will allow candidates to resit their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers as early as January and February 2025.

In an exclusive interview with JoyNews on the AM Show in Ghana, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, revealed that this new program—dubbed WASSCE PC1—would enable candidates to register for the resit exams and sit for them as soon as January 24, 2025. This means that students who have already received their WASSCE results and need to retake one or more papers can do so in just a matter of weeks.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that WAEC has set a registration deadline of January 8, 2025, for all interested candidates. Online registration is available through the WAEC website or at accredited internet cafés.

Mr. Kapi explained that the new resit system is designed to provide candidates with a faster and more efficient route to improving their grades.

“We understand the pressure on students and the impact that waiting for an entire year can have on their academic progress. This initiative is aimed at addressing that challenge,” Kapi stated.

Confusion As Ogun Students WASSCE Results Seized Over State’s Debt to WAEC

In a related development, confusion and anxiety enveloped Ogun State as the West African Examination Council (WAEC) seized the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results of students due to the state government’s unpaid debts.

The seizure has caused significant distress among families as they await clarity on their children’s academic futures.
