Tragedy struck in the Kuchibiyu Community of Bwari Area Council, Abuja, on Monday, January 6, 2025, as an explosion rocked an Islamiyyah school, leaving one student dead and four others injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the blast occurred around noon, sending shockwaves through the quiet community located approximately 42 kilometers from Abuja’s city centre.
Preliminary reports suggest that the deceased student was carrying a substance suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) when it detonated, causing widespread panic within the school premises.
Emergency response teams, including the police bomb disposal squad, promptly arrived at the scene, while the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, but the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has yet to issue an official statement.
