Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has come under fire for celebrating his son’s graduation from a foreign university.
The minister shared the celebration on his social media handle, but critics were quick to point out the hypocrisy of his actions.
During his tenure as governor of Rivers State, Wike discontinued a scholarship program initiated by his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, which sponsored students from the state to study abroad.

The program was abandoned, leaving many students stranded and without financial support.

A Port Harcourt-based youth activist, Charles Jaja, criticized Wike’s actions, saying, “Years back, former Governor Wike pulled out all Rivers children sent abroad to study at various foreign universities by Rotimi Amaechi’s administration.”
He claimed that Amaechi only wasted Rivers money in sending those children abroad to study courses that could have been offered here in Nigeria.

A former Nigeria Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi has said it would mean God created Nigeria to suffer if the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, loses in the 2023 presidential election.
The nonagenarian, who stated this, weekend, at his country home, in a chat with select journalists, said he would conclude that God created the country to suffer, if the former Anambra state governor losses the poll.
