Operatives of the Edo state police command have arrested three men for rape in the state.
According to reports, the suspects gang-raped the 12-year-old girl identified as Esther, in December 24, 2025.
This happened in Okpella, Estsako East Local Government Area of the state.

The reportedly raped the girl, recorded it and posted it on social media.
The victim was subsequently brought to the State Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues, accompanied by her mother and the Queen of Okpella.
The act, which was described as ‘a crime against humanity’ saw the girl go mute, and isolated, and has only been muttering a few words.
She is currently receiving treatment and counseling at a government shelter, where she is being provided with a safe haven from potential threats in her community.
Confirming the incident, the Society to Heighten Awareness of Women and Child Abuse, SOTHAWACA, has importance of therapy for Ms. Esther.
“The victim has been mute since the incidence, and only recently started uttering a few words. It’s essential that we provide her with the necessary support to overcome this traumatic experience,” she noted.
