Delta Govt, APC Engage in War of Words Over Governor Oborevwori's Rumoured Defection

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the state government have resorted to name-calling amidst speculation surrounding Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s rumoured defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC.

In a statement, APC State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, described Governor Oborevwori’s tenure as “marred by underperformance, widespread disappointment, and an inability to deliver meaningful development to the people of Delta State.

Onojeghuo emphasized that while APC respects the right of individuals to associate with a political party of their choice, it is unconcerned about the governor’s potential defection.

“The Delta APC is living in crippling fear of him, so we can understand why they have become sleepless and incontinent,” responded Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, the Delta State Commissioner for Information.

COAIG Insists on Zoning APC Guber Ticket to Osun West in 2026

The Coalition of Osun APC Interest Groups (COAIG) has reiterated its call for the APC governorship ticket to be zoned to Osun West Senatorial District in the 2026 gubernatorial election.

This stance is contrary to that of APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, who advocates for the party ticket to be thrown open to any zone.
