Popular social media platform, TikTok has announced plans to shut down it’s operations in the United States of America.
Daily Report Nigeria gathers that this decision comes after the legislator ordered the streaming platform to cut ties with its parents company, ByteDance.
Reports from The Information revealed the legislature order the ties be severed, or they halt operations in the US.

The deadline for this is scheduled for January 19, 2025.

Reacting, TikTok noted that although the law only speaks on the removal of the app on app stores, and a discontinued hosting provision, it would shut down it services completely.
It also adds that all employees’ payments are secured, and users would be allowed to download their personal data.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has established Police Anti-Money Laundering Units across the country.
The units to combat terrorism financing, financial crimes, and prevent illicit financial activities that could undermine national stability.
