  • The presidential villa is set to join lists of houses to face blackout in Abuja.

  • This comes after a recent vandalism in the state led to the theft of a cable.

  • Other parts to be affected also include Wise, Life camp and others.

The presidential villa, which houses the president of Nigeria, and his deputy is set to experience a power outage.

According to reports, the vandals stolen a 132kV transmission cable, while also damaging some of its parts.

This happened on Friday, January 17, 2025.

Presidential Villa to experience blackout

Confirming this to newsmen, the General Manager of public affairs of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, Ndidi Mbah said the vandalisation affected about 60% of the power distributed to the capital.

She listed aom affected areas as: Maitama, Wuse, Jabi, Lifecamp, Asokoro, Utako, Mabushi, and parts of the Presidential Villa.

 

We enjoin Nigerians to be vigilant in observing and reporting suspicious activities to security operatives. We must work together to protect our transmission equipment and installation. This is very crucial to the development of the nation’s power sector,” she added
