Nigerian Traditional Ruler Slumps, Dies at Occasion

• A traditional ruler in Kaduna State, Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, has passed away after slumping at an event.

•  The incident occurred on Thursday in Zaria, Kaduna State.

•  He was rushed to the hospital, where he later passed away, and his remains were buried the same evening.

A district head in the Zazzau Emirate Council, Alhaji Rilwan Yahaya Pate, slumped and died on Thursday while attending an event in Zaria, Kaduna State.

According to eyewitnesses, Alhaji Pate, who held the title of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, was rushed to Hajiya Gambo Sawaba General Hospital, Kofar Gayan, where he later passed away.

The Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, expressed condolences to Alhaji Pate’s family, describing him as a dedicated and religious leader.

“It is with great sadness that the Zazzau Emirate Council announces the passing of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau Alhaji Rilwanu Yahaya Pate, a Council Member of the Emirate,” said Abdullahi Aliyu Kwarbai, the Media and Publicity officer of the Zazzau Emirate Council.

Alhaji Pate’s remains were buried the same evening at Rimin Dodo. The Emir prayed for his soul to rest in peace, saying,”Alhaji Rilwanu Yahaya, who also served as Councillor in charge of Health Related Matters, passed away while attending a program alongside His Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR.”

The incident, which was reported to have happened at a filling station opposite Fire Brigade office in Ifo, Ogun state  saw the 45-year-ols victim, identified as Alani Rasaq slump and die.
