  • NNPC has denied importing 200 million litres of petrol in February 2025, calling the claim “entirely false”.

  • NNPC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Kyari, stated that the company has not imported a single litre of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) since the beginning of 2025.

  • Kyari also dismissed concerns about fuel quality, calling it “unfortunate drama and bad marketing practice” and assured that regulatory agencies are doing their job to ensure standard products.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has clarified that it has not imported a single litre of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) since the beginning of 2025.

This statement was made by NNPC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Kyari, at the 60th Nigeria Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) Conference in Abuja.

According to Kyari, the claim by detractors that NNPC imported 200 million litres of fuel in the last days of February 2025 is entirely false.

Kyari also noted that there are no quality issues with PMS across the country.

“The talk around fuel quality is unfortunate and a very bad marketing practice. It’s all drama and entertainment, and as we know, drama has a way of entertaining the people,” he said.

Regarding a viral video claiming that NNPC fuel is substandard compared to Dangote petrol, Kyari dismissed it as “unfortunate drama and bad marketing practice.”
