Fulham’s Bernd Leno emerged as the hero, making two decisive penalty saves to eliminate Manchester United from the FA Cup.

Both teams had converted their first three spot-kicks, but Leno denied Victor Lindelof to shift momentum in Fulham’s favor. After Antonee Robinson extended his side’s flawless penalty record, the German shot-stopper delivered again—this time stopping Joshua Zirkzee—securing Fulham’s place in the FA Cup Quarter Final.

The match had already delivered plenty of drama before the shootout. Calvin Bassey opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, heading home from close range after a clever flick-on by Rodrigo Muniz.

United found their equalizer through Bruno Fernandes, who silenced critics with a clinical strike from the edge of the area after receiving a well-placed pass from Diogo Dalot. The goal came just days after former club legend Roy Keane had questioned Fernandes’ leadership qualities.

Both teams had opportunities to settle the contest in regulation time. Emile Smith Rowe came close but was denied by United’s Andre Onana, who produced a superb save before extra time. In response, 17-year-old Chido Obi nearly clinched victory for United, but Leno’s quick reflexes kept his effort out.

Leno’s performance wasn’t just about his penalty heroics—his series of crucial saves throughout the game, including stopping Alejandro Garnacho’s attempt, showcased his brilliance.

Speaking after the match, Fulham manager Marco Silva emphasized the club’s growing maturity and ambition in the competition:

“From the first day, we have taken this competition seriously. We are in a better place than when we were knocked out at Old Trafford two years ago. Our identity remains strong, and everyone can see that Fulham is a very good club in the Premier League.”

With this victory, Fulham moves a step closer to emulating their historic 1975 FA Cup final run, keeping their dreams alive in this year’s competition.
