In a move that has brewed controversy, Multichoice Nigeria, the parent company of DStv and GOtv, has increased subscription prices for its packages despite the Federal Government’s halt order.
The company announced the new prices, citing the high cost of business operations in the country.
New Prices Take Effect

According to a statement by the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), John Ugbe, the new prices took effect on March 1, 2025.
Ugbe stated that the decision was made due to the increasing cost of business operations in Nigeria.
He noted, “We understand the impact this change may have on you, our valued customer, but the rise in the cost of business operations has led us to make this difficult decision.”

FG’s Halt Order Ignored
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) had ordered Multichoice to halt the planned price increase until the commission concluded its investigation.
However, Multichoice has gone ahead with the price increase, ignoring the FCCPC’s order.
As of the time of filing this report, the FCCPC has yet to react to Multichoice’s decision.
Multichoice to Increase DSTV, GOtv Subscription Prices in Nigeria Again
Multichoice, the parent company of DSTV and GOtv, is set to increase subscription prices in Nigeria for the second time in less than a year.
According to sources, the price hike is attributed to the fall in the value of the naira and increased energy costs.
The new prices are expected to take effect soon, with Compact bouquet subscribers facing a N3,300 increase, from N15,700 to N19,000.
