  • The police force has come out to debunk ritual killing rumours of a graduate in Lagos state.

  • The fresh graduate of LASU was rumoured to have been killed by a prophet.

  • Three suspects have however been arrested in connection to his disappearance, including a prophet.

Following numerous rumours on social media about the ritual killing of a young man, the Lagos state police command has released a statement debunking it.

Daily Report Nigeria reported that a 28-year-old fresh graduate of the Lagos State University, LASU, Adedamola Ogunbode, was rumoured to have been killed and buried by a prophet.

In a recent update, the spokesperson of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, while confirming the case to PUNCH on Wednesday, debunked the rumour, stating that Adedamola is missing, not declared dead.

He further stated that his body was not found, contrary to the information going all over social media.

Hundeyin added that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the case, including a prophet.

 “A report was made to the police that the said graduate was missing and three suspects were arrested, including a prophet. However, the police did not discover any mutilated body of the missing graduate as being circulated on social media. He is still missing and we are investigating a case of a missing person, not murder. There is no dead person anywhere.” he said.

A recent building collapse has increased tension among residents in Lagos state.
