FG Okays Three Refineries for 140,000bpd Production

PETROAN Lauds NMDPRA Over Gas Distribution Licences

  • FG has approved licenses for three new refineries, increasing Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity by 140,000 barrels per day.

  •  The refineries will be constructed by Eghudu Refinery Ltd in Edo State, MB Refinery and Petrochemicals Company Ltd in Delta State, and HIS Refining and Petrochemical Company Ltd in Abia State.

  •  This development brings the total number of modular and regular refineries in Nigeria to about 14.

The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has announced the approval of licenses for the construction of three new refineries.

These new facilities will add 140,000 barrels per day to Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity.

According to the NMDPRA, a 100,000 bpd refinery license was granted to Eghudu Refinery Ltd in Edo State, while a 30,000 bpd refinery license was granted to MB Refinery and Petrochemicals Company Ltd in Delta State.

The third company, HIS Refining and Petrochemical Company Ltd, received a 10,000 bpd refinery license to refine petroleum products in Abia State.

“The Authority Chief Executive, Engr. Farouk Ahmed presented a License to Construct a 100,000 bpd refinery to Eghudu Refinery Ltd in Edo state, a License to Establish a 30,000 bpd refinery to MB Refinery and Petrochemicals Company Ltd in Delta state, and a License to Establish a 10,000 bpd refinery to HIS Refining and Petrochemical Company Ltd. in Abia state.

“These Licenses, which would add 140,000 barrels per day to Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity, were presented to the MDs of the companies.”the NMDPRA stated.

Retailers Now Lifting Fuel from Port Harcourt, Warri Refineries – PETROAN

The Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has disclosed that its members are now lifting petroleum products from the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries.

This development is contrary to previous doubts that the refineries owned by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited were not fully operational.
