Otedola Bridge blocked due to explosion from a tanker loaded with petrol.
A tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol fell and exploded on Otedola Bridge in Lagos.
The incident confirmed by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has wreaked havoc on individuals, buildings and cars around the area.
According to an eyewitness, the accident on Otedola Bridge caused motorists to flee for safety as individuals were seen running helter-skelter from the explosion.
Daily Report Nigeria earlier reported this incident in the early hours of today when investigations were still going on and some details were yet to be confirmed.
But now, we have got a current hold of details on the issue. The report on our desk has confirmed the casualties of the explosion.According to the LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, at least one person has been confirmed dead while three others have been severely injured.
“Three adult male victims with severe burns have been rescued and transferred to Gbagada General Hospital burns unit while the remains of an adult male were also recovered,”

Following this, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) took to their X account to warn motorists of the incident.
A church identified as the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), a residential house, and four cars from a mechanic park have been confirmed as the properties destroyed by the explosion.
“A tanker has fallen and caught fire, affecting nearby structures, including a church, residential house, and mechanics’ parks at Otedola Under Bridge, adjacent to CMD Road,”
The Traffic Agency also confirmed that efforts are being made by the necessary authorities to ensure that the fire is curtailed and quenched.

According to their Statement, “Fire Rescue teams are currently at the scene, working to extinguish the fire and mitigate the situation.
“Recovery efforts are ongoing. Due to the incident, there is currently no movement in or out of Otedola Under Bridge, resulting in a complete blockade of the area.”
The agency also warned that motorists circumventing the order and trying to navigate through the bridge should desist from such acts as it is hazardous and can endanger lots of lives.
They reported that “despite repeated warnings and roadblocks, we have received reports that some motorists are recklessly attempting to navigate through the fire incident area, putting their lives at risk.”
The general public has condemned this act, netizens have also criticized motorists who are perpetrating this act.
In combating the fire, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service also reported that they are currently attending to a fire incident resulting from a tanker accident outward Otedola bridge, Omole, Lagos at about 20:00 hours.
The tanker has also been identified as a 30-tonne DAF Gas Truck with an unknown registration number. The exploded tanker was trying to navigate the bends on the bridge when it fell and caught fire.
