CSP Hundeyin speaking to the press on the issue revealed that “The case is confirmed. After a team of detectives who were on surveillance township monitoring patrol in the area got the information, they moved in swiftly and arrested the suspect. One kitchen knife stained with blood was recovered from him. He was brought down to the station and interrogated accordingly.

“He confessed to the crime. The corpse was deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Badagry. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti Yaba.”

This case is one of the pointers of the high rate of violence against women. A statistics evidence from the 2024 DOHS Cares Foundation femicide report proved that about 133 Nigerian women, including teenagers, fell victim to suspected gender-related violence between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024.

This further calls on the government, NGOs and other civil service organizations to look into the plight of Nigerian women as the increasing rates of domestic violence is so alarming.
