Reno Omokri Vows to Dismantle Obidient Movement Over Personal Threats, Fallout with Peter Obi

Reno Omokri, a political commentator and former presidential aide, has openly declared his intention to dismantle the Obidient movement, citing personal threats and a fallout with Peter Obi as the driving forces behind his decision.

Speaking on Breakfast Central, Omokri dismissed claims that his opposition to Obi and his supporters stems from a personal vendetta.

Instead, he described his past role in Obi’s political rise, stating, “I took a vow to destroy that movement because Peter Obi was a project of mine.” Omokri recalled his efforts in shaping Obi’s national prominence, including his role in securing Obi’s position as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2019 presidential election.

“I was responsible for Peter Obi becoming the running mate to Waziri Atiku Abubakar in 2019,” he claimed.

Omokri alleged that Obi’s supporters, known as Obidients, attacked and threatened him and his family, leading to his decision to take action against the movement.

“Peter Obi’s movement, Obidients, started attacking me, threatening me, insulting me. That was OK. But then they moved from myself to my family. I just had a daughter at that time. There were multiple death threats,” he alleged.

A presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga, has cautioned former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, to be mindful of his statements after the former governor claimed that democracy in Nigeria had collapsed.

Obi made the statement at the 60th birthday colloquium for former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, in Abuja.
