EDO MASSACRE: Arewa Youths Stage Protest, Demand Justice

  • Youths and residents in Northern Nigeria have staged a protest, following a gruesome killing in Edo state.

  • This comes after 16 people were killed in Uromi, Edo state.

  • The president of Nigeria, alongside other authorities have called for justice, while reaffirming the offenders would be brought to book.

Nigeria is currently on the verge of a cold war, following heated arguments, social media unrest and protests planned by Arewa Youths in the country.

This comes after a recent jungle justice in Edo state, leading to the death of almost 20 people.

Uromi, Edo Jungle Justice – What Actually happened

Daily Report Nigeria recalls a group of travelers who were intercepted at in Udune Efandion community in Uromi, Edo State, on March 27, 2025 by vigilantes in the community.

It was gathered that the travellers were found with Dane guns, which are commonly used in the north.

 

The vigilantes raised an alarm about the people, an act which stirred anger among the people, and they resulted to jungle justice.

A total of 16 people were set ablaze in the Edo massacre, with 6 people confirmed dead.

 

Arewa Youths Stage Protest Over Uromi massacre

While many believe the Edo jungle justice victims to be Fulani herdsmen planning an attack in the state, a handful of youths in northern Nigeria, popularly referred to as Arewa Youths have staged a protest stating that the victims were on their way for Eid celebration.
