Naira Records Slight Appreciation Against Dollar at Official Market

  • The naira strengthened marginally to N1,534.52 against the dollar at the official market on Thursday.

  • Day-to-day gain recorded at 0.3 from Wednesday’s N1,534.83.

  • Black market rate remained unchanged at N1,565 per dollar.

The Nigerian naira continued its slight appreciation against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday, according to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

CBN’s exchange rate data showed the naira strengthened to N1,534.52 per dollar from N1,534.83 recorded on Wednesday, reflecting a marginal day-to-day gain of 0.3.

At the parallel or black market, the naira held steady at N1,565 per dollar, the same rate as the previous day.

The development follows Wednesday’s recorded appreciation across both official and parallel forex markets.

In a recent statement, CBN spokesperson Hakama Sidi Ali advised Nigerians against spraying, hawking, mutilating, or counterfeiting the naira.
