NSC Responds to Super Falcons Bonus Drama, Confirms $100k Reward

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has pushed back against reports of unpaid Super Falcons bonuses, stressing that every pending payment was cleared before the team’s last game against Morocco.

NSC Director-General, Bukola Olopade, spoke on Arise TV on Friday, directly addressing the concerns raised by forward Rasheedat Ajibade.

“I can confirm authoritatively that all their bonuses have been paid. I spoke with Ajibade yesterday and with the NFF, and everybody is on the same page,” – Olopade said.

He explained that a handful of players might still be waiting due to transaction delays tied to the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Olopade went on to reassure that the $100,000 cash reward promised for the Falcons’ 2024 WAFCON victory remains intact and will be delivered.

“On the promise of Mr President, I can assure you that it will be paid,” – he added.

He also mentioned that the NSC is in talks with the Minister of Works and Housing to make sure the team finally receives the houses pledged to them.

Reaffirming the commission’s position, Olopade stressed thus:

“The NSC doesn’t play with the remuneration and welfare of athletes. All outstanding issues will be resolved soon.”
