Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three and a half years behind bars for his involvement in a $1 million fraud scheme centered on luxury goods.
Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson, was convicted in March alongside his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, on charges including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. Turner was sentenced last month to five years in prison.

Prosecutors say Kingston took advantage of his celebrity status to obtain high-end items, including a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, luxury watches, and a 19-foot LED television, without making payment. Court documents indicate he used forged wire transfer receipts and lured sellers with promises of social media promotion.
U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz ordered Kingston to report to custody immediately following Friday’s sentencing at a South Florida courtroom, rejecting his attorney’s request for a delayed surrender due to health concerns.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Marc Anton called Kingston “a thief and a conman,” alleging that he used his fame to defraud victims over multiple years. In response, defense attorney Zeljka Bozanic argued that Kingston’s issues were tied to financial mismanagement and noted that he had begun reimbursing those affected by his actions.
Kingston and his mother were initially taken into custody in May 2024 after a SWAT team raided his rented Fort Lauderdale mansion.
Born in Florida and raised in Jamaica, Kingston rose to international fame at 17 with his 2007 hit single Beautiful Girls, which catapulted him into the spotlight.
