Musa Suleiman, a fruit seller in the Jahi area, lamented the price increase, stating that apples, which were once priced at N200 to N250, now range from N450 to N800 depending on their size.

He further explained that high prices for other fruits like grapes have resulted in unsold stock, with some products becoming spoilt in shops.

Another retailer, Mansur Mansur from Kado Kuchi, noted that the low patronage was especially evident during the Ramadan season, a period traditionally marked by increased fruit purchases.

As a result of the soaring prices, many Nigerians have begun to limit their fruit consumption.

Anike Abubakar, a mother of one, shared that she now only eats fruits when she is sick, having stopped buying them regularly due to their high costs.
