Akwa Ibom Police Rescue 20 Trafficked Ghanaians

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has rescued 20 Ghanaians, comprising 10 males and 10 females, who were reportedly trafficked into the state.

DSP Timfon John, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the victims were recovered from a compound in Obio Etoi village, Uyo Local Government Area, following a formal complaint from the Ghana Police Service and INTERPOL.

“Acting on credible information, operatives surrounded a well-fenced building at approximately 1617 hours on Monday, August 18, 2025. The raid led to the rescue of 10 males and 10 females (names withheld), all confirmed to be Ghanaian nationals,” she said.

John added that the victims appeared disoriented upon rescue and were initially unable to provide helpful information, prompting investigators to consider the possibility that they may have been hypnotized.

She further stated that investigations are ongoing and assured that updates would be communicated to the public as they become available.

Police Arrest Three Suspected Axe Men Members, Recover Pistol in Cross River

Police operatives in Calabar, Cross River State, have arrested three suspected members of the Neo Black Movement of Africa, also known as the Axe Men Confraternity, and seized a locally made pistol.

The suspects were apprehended on Tuesday morning by the State Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad during a routine patrol near 8 Miles by Technical Roundabout in Calabar.
