Nigeria claims 25 medals at CAA Region II Champs as Team Nigeria topped the table in Accra, winning 15 gold, 8 silver and 2 bronze, up from last year’s 13–4–1.

The team’s sprint and quarter-mile speed powered the campaign, while throwers and jumpers added vital points.

After a strong opening day, Nigeria sealed the title with victories in both the men’s and women’s 200m and in both 4x400m relays.

Chidera Ezeakor ran a personal best of 20.77s to win the men’s 200m.

Meanwhile, Anita Enaruna took the women’s 200m in 23.91s.

Oloaolu Olatunde won the men’s 100m in 10.60s, and Chioma Nweke captured the women’s 100m in 11.62s.

Burkina Faso placed second with 21 medals; Benin Republic finished third with 16.

Hosts Ghana, Togo, Ivory Coast and The Gambia also reached the podium.

The two-day meet drew more than 250 athletes from across West Africa.

Nigeria leaves Accra with momentum and confidence for upcoming competitions.
