Nigeria’s three tiers of government have shared N2.001 trillion as the July 2025 Federation Account Revenue, according to the August 2025 FAAC meeting held in Abuja.

The total distributable revenue included distributable statutory revenue of N1.283 trillion, Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue of N640.610 billion, Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) of N37.601 billion, and exchange difference of N39.745 billion.

The gross statutory revenue for July 2025 was N3.070 trillion, a decrease of N415.108 billion from June’s N3.485 trillion. VAT revenue for the month was N687.940 billion, slightly higher than June’s N678.165 billion.

From the total distributable revenue, the Federal Government received N735.081 billion, the State Governments N660.349 billion, and the Local Government Councils N485.039 billion, while derivation revenue of N120.359 billion was shared with benefiting states.

The detailed allocation of distributable statutory revenue (N1.283 trillion) saw the Federal Government receive N613.805 billion, states N311.330 billion, local councils N240.023 billion, and derivation N117.714 billion. For VAT revenue (N640.610 billion), the Federal Government received N96.092 billion, states N320.305 billion, and local councils N224.214 billion.

The EMTL revenue (N37.601 billion) was divided as federal N5.640 billion, states N18.801 billion, and local councils N13.160 billion. From the exchange difference (N39.745 billion), the federal government received N19.544 billion, states N9.913 billion, local councils N7.643 billion, and derivation N2.643 billion.

The communiqué highlighted that Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT), Oil and Gas Royalty, EMTL, and Excise Duty increased significantly in July, while VAT and import duty increased marginally. Meanwhile, Companies Income Tax (CIT) and CET levies recorded decreases.
