Leaders warn against attempts to derail PDP’s forthcoming national convention
Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have declared that Nigerians will vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The declaration came in a communiqué released after the governors’ meeting held in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Saturday.
The governors accused the APC of worsening national hardship through divisive policies, economic mismanagement, and alleged electoral malpractice during recent by-elections.
They said the PDP remains the most reliable platform to restore good governance and rebuild Nigeria, despite witnessing defections in recent months.
Discussions at the closed-door meeting focused on insecurity, democratic decline, and preparations for the party’s forthcoming national convention.
The forum condemned killings in Katsina, Plateau, Niger, Benue, and other states, urging the Tinubu-led administration to act swiftly in safeguarding lives and property.
Those present at the meeting included Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa, and Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun.
