Enugu State Police Command has apprehended a 39-year-old suspected firearm repairer alongside six other individuals, following a string of intelligence-driven operations that resulted in the seizure of illegal arms and ammunition.

According to Ndukwe, the crackdown led to the recovery of seven firearms, one expended cartridge, two live cartridges, and other incriminating materials.

“On June 21, operatives of the command’s Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad arrested one 25-year-old suspect at 9th Mile,” he said.

“A cut-to-size double-barrelled gun with one expended cartridge was recovered from him.

“His arrest followed the confession of three earlier-arrested suspects, all of whom admitted to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and disclosed they had used the weapon in various criminal acts.”

Ndukwe further disclosed that in a related operation on June 17, the squad arrested another 22-year-old suspect, following a confession made by the alleged firearm repairer earlier nabbed for his connection to cultism and armed robbery.
