The Nigeria U-17 Women’s National Team, also known as the Flamingos, were rewarded with N6 million following their impressive 4-0 victory over Algeria on Saturday, 19th of April.

This dominant performance in the first leg of their 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualification has put them in a strong position for the return match.

Under the leadership of coach Bankole Olowookere, the Flamingos U-17 women’s football team showcased their strength with Queen Joseph scoring two goals, and Zainab Raji and Aishat Animashaun each contributing with a goal.

Their efforts gave the Nigeria U-17 women a commanding 4-0 lead, a result that puts them one step closer to securing a spot in the prestigious 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) awarded the Nigeria U-17 women’s football team N2 million for their outstanding performance.

In addition, billionaire businessman Kunle Soname contributed N4 million to the team’s reward, bringing the total to N6 million.

What’s Next for the Flamingos?

The Flamingos will travel to Bilda for the second leg of their qualifying match against Algeria this Friday.

The winner of this two-legged fixture will secure their place in the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, and the Nigeria U-17 Women’s National Team is eager to carry their momentum into the crucial return match.
