The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has confirmed the recovery of a second body from the August 23 accident in which a vehicle plunged off the Third Mainland Bridge into the lagoon.
LASWA General Manager, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday that the body had been handed over to the family of the deceased.

According to Emmanuel, initial reports suggested only one passenger was involved, but further investigations revealed a second victim, 31-year-old Chado Daniel Danladi of Oremeta Street, Ikeja, who was a colleague of the first victim.
DAILY POST reports that the crash occurred in the early hours of August 23 when a Toyota Camry skidded off the bridge into the lagoon.
“The vehicle carried a female passenger identified as Aisha, aged between 25 and 35. Her body was swiftly recovered by divers and handed over to her family,” Emmanuel said.
He added that LASWA’s rescue team, working alongside the Marine Police, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and local fishermen, responded immediately after the distress call.
Emmanuel described the operation as evidence of the state’s improving capacity to handle emergencies on its waterways.
“This incident demonstrates the effectiveness of our coordinated emergency response system and the invaluable role of community support in such situations. LASWA remains committed to ensuring safety and rapid intervention during waterway emergencies,” he stated.
