  • Two suspected traffic robbers, Samuel Adekunle (aka Omo-jo-Ibo) and Yemi Aparaojo (aka Asa), were arrested by Lagos RRS operatives on Tuesday in separate operations in Ketu and Mile 12.
  • Aparaojo was recently released from Kirikiri Correctional Centre, while Adekunle had been on the police watchlist for multiple robbery cases in the area.
  • The suspects were caught after a robbery victim spotted Adekunle and alerted RRS officers; two other gang members escaped through Ketu Market.

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended two suspected traffic robbers during separate operations conducted on Tuesday in the Ketu and Mile 12 areas of Kosofe Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Samuel Adekunle, also known as Omo-jo-Ibo, and Yemi Aparaojo, popularly called Asa, were arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), a specialised unit under the command.

The arrests were confirmed in a statement posted Wednesday on the official Facebook page of the RRS.

According to the statement, “The operatives of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad, RRS, a unit of the Lagos State Police Command, on Tuesday morning arrested two notorious traffic robbers operating around Ketu and Mile 12, Kosofe.

“The suspects, Yemi Aparaojo, popularly known as Asa, and Samuel Adekunle, also known as Omo-jo-Ibo, were arrested around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.”

The statement further revealed that Aparaojo, an ex-convict, had just regained freedom from the Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre in May 2025, after serving a six-and-a-half-year sentence. His alleged accomplice, Adekunle, had reportedly been on the police watchlist for his involvement in multiple traffic robbery cases within the Ajelogo and Ketu axis.

The police said both suspects, along with two others currently at large, had recently robbed a pedestrian of ₦25,000 after harassing him persistently. When the victim attempted to help them, he was reportedly attacked and robbed of his money.

The breakthrough came when the same victim spotted Adekunle in the area on Tuesday and immediately notified RRS operatives, who quickly moved in and apprehended both suspects. The remaining two gang members reportedly fled through the nearby Ketu Market.

In response to the arrests, the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, CSP Sola Jejeloye, acting on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, has intensified patrols along the Ketu and Mile 12 corridors to curb further criminal activities.

Jejeloye also directed that the arrested suspects be charged to court without delay, while efforts continue to track down their fleeing accomplices.
