Meanwhile, both fighters forced through five brutal rounds at UFC 236 for the interim middleweight title.
Their fight now sits alongside such iconic bouts as Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen, Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg II, and Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar.
The Hall of Fame ceremony also supports a cause, with all ticket sales benefiting the UFC Foundation’s youth and community programs.
In February, Adesanya told The Mac Life:
“Very grateful. I knew that was a special fight, a special moment in combat sports history. I even said… ‘Hey Kelvin, that was us’ because it takes two to tango. That man can salsa.”
Most striking of all came before round five when Adesanya declared:
“I meant every single word of it… if this is how I go out, this is how I go out—but I’m going to die trying.”
