Just In: NDDC Post-Graduate Scholarships 2025/2026 Begins | Daily Report Nigeria

  • NDDC has introduced the 2025 Local Postgraduate Scholarship to build skilled manpower in the Niger Delta and support the Federal Government’s Local Content objectives.
  • Applicants must be indigenes of the region, under 40, and hold a qualifying degree or HND with a PGD; application closes July 20, 2025.
  • Selection includes a computer-based test, oral interview, and community verification, with preference given to candidates from oil-producing communities.

 

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance human capital development across the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has unveiled the 2025 edition of its Local Postgraduate Scholarship Programme. The initiative is targeted at equipping young people from the region with advanced education and skills needed to thrive within the framework of the Federal Government’s Local Content Policy.

The scholarship is tailored to promote academic excellence and professional growth in fields critical to regional and national development.

Eligible Fields of Study:
• Agricultural Sciences
• Architecture
• Engineering
• Environmental Sciences
• Geosciences
• Humanities
• Information Technology
• Law
• Management & Social Sciences
• Medical Sciences

Application Procedure:
Interested and qualified applicants are to visit the Commission’s official website: www.nddc.gov.ng to submit their applications.

Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be a native of the Niger Delta region
• Must be 40 years of age or younger
• Must hold a First Class, Second Class Upper, or Lower Bachelor’s Degree, or an HND with at least Upper Credit and a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

Selection Steps:
1. Online Application – Submission through the NDDC portal
2. Preliminary Screening – Based on WASSCE/NECO performance, undergraduate results, and verified Local Government Identification
3. Computer-Based Test (CBT) – To be held in designated centers in Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Delta States; a minimum score of 70% is required to move forward
4. Oral Interview – Candidates who pass the CBT will proceed to this stage
5. Final Background Checks – Conducted via Local Government Authorities and Community Development Committees

Application Deadline: All submissions must be completed on or before July 20, 2025.

Documents to Upload:
• A recent passport photo
• Local Government Identification Letter
• Postgraduate admission letter from a recognized Nigerian university
• Academic certificates
• NYSC discharge or exemption certificate

Once an application is submitted, a registration number will be generated. Applicants are expected to print and keep the acknowledgment slip for reference.

Shortlisted candidates will be listed on the NDDC website. Please note that only those who make it through the various selection stages will be contacted.

Additional Notes:
Preference will be given to applicants from oil-producing communities and host Local Government Areas, provided they meet the cut-off score. The Commission will also ensure an even distribution of scholarship slots among the states within the region. Requests for deferment, institutional transfer, or course change will not be entertained. All selections will be made in accordance with the Commission’s internal policies, and its decision is final.
