The Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned Oluwadahunsola Taiwo before Justice O.A. Okunuga of the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja over an alleged N11.2 million fraud.

Taiwo, alongside his company, Green Eagles Agribusiness Solution Limited, was docked on Thursday on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money under false pretences.

According to court filings, the complainant, Adepoju Idowu, alleged that he invested various amounts in several agricultural schemes introduced by the defendant between February and October 2020. Among the investments were N1.5 million in a vegetable plantation with a promised 30 per cent return every three months and N1.06 million in a rice farm with an expected 40 per cent return every six months.

Idowu also claimed to have committed N4.9 million into the Green Wealth Project (1 Year Tenor) on October 30, 2020, and another N4.9 million into the same project under a three-year plan, both with a promised annual return of 30 per cent.

All payments were reportedly made to Green Eagles Agribusiness Solution Limited via First Bank account number 2033169176. However, the petitioner claimed that none of the promised returns were fulfilled, and several attempts to contact Taiwo failed.

One of the charges reads:
“That you, Oluwadajunsola Taiwo, and Green Eagles Agribusiness Solution Limited, between February and October 2020, in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, dishonestly converted to your own use an aggregate sum of N11,260,000.00 (eleven million, two hundred and sixty thousand naira), property of Adepoju Idowu, thereby committing an offence of Stealing contrary to Section 285(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.”

Taiwo pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following his plea, prosecuting counsel R.A. Abdulrasheed asked the court to fix a trial date and requested that the defendant be remanded in custody pending the commencement of proceedings.

Justice Okunuga granted the request and ordered Taiwo’s remand, adjourning the matter to October 23, 2025, for trial.

Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement, revealed that the crackdown followed intelligence shared by INTERPOL NCB in Accra.
