Southampton have confirmed on Friday that Paul Onuachu joins Trabzonspor on a permanent deal after impressing during his 2023/24 loan spell.

Moreover, the towering Nigerian striker will continue his career in Turkey, departing St Mary’s following two-and-a-half years in England’s top flight.

The Saints, who now prepare for life in the EFL Championship, announced on their website:
“Southampton Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed with Trabzonspor for the transfer of striker Paul Onuachu.”
Therefore, the 31-year-old will leave after scoring four goals in 40 appearances for the club, having already shown his quality during that loan stint.
“We thank Paul for his efforts during his time as a Saints player and wish him well,” – the statement added.
Onuachu wasted no time in Turkey, finding the net 15 times in just 21 games last season and quickly winning over the Trabzonspor faithful.
Consequently, the Super Lig side moved to secure his services on a permanent basis.
Since his debut in 2019, Paul Onuachu has earned 24 selections and found the net 3 times for the Super Eagles.
Meanwhile, he also competed at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where Nigeria ended up as runners-up.
