Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, have arrested four individuals suspected of vandalism while allegedly transporting stolen telecommunication cables and electrical transformer components from Kano to Lagos.

The suspects—Mogaji Ibrahim, Umaru Adamu, Abba Muhazu, and Adamu Idris—were intercepted at the old Ore Toll Gate along the Lagos expressway in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Spokesperson for the NSCDC in the state, Daniel Aidamenbor, said the arrest was made following “actionable intelligence received by the command.”

“They were apprehended while transporting vandalised telecommunication wires, BEDC equipment such as transformer parts, high tension cables, copper and armoured cables, and other cut-to-size metal objects from Kano to Lagos,” he stated.

Aidamenbor confirmed that all recovered items have been secured as evidence.

He added that investigations are underway to identify the sponsors and other collaborators linked to the operation.

Reaffirming the NSCDC’s stance, Aidamenbor noted that the command remains committed to “combating economic sabotage, particularly activities targeting critical national assets and infrastructure across the country.”
