Twenty fighters walked away with millions of naira as Agulo Seite Boxing Club secured the season two crown of the Yucateco boxing league in Ogun State on Monday.

The finale in Shagamu drew hundreds of fans and officials eager to see what’s been hailed as Nigeria’s toughest Olympic-style boxing competition.

Champions in each weight division pocketed ₦2 million, while the runners-up took home ₦1 million and ₦500,000 respectively.
Agulo Seite pulled ahead of Ogbas Families Boxing Club—who were level on points before the penultimate round by notching the most wins and claiming the ₦50 million team prize.
Meanwhile, Samuel Dahunsi of Ogbas Families BC earned the Most Valuable Boxer title and received land worth ₦20 million in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Since its launch in August 2024, the league has featured over 300 boxers from 12 accredited clubs battling through 520 bouts.
Its swift rise has already produced national champions at the latest National Sports Festival, raising the bar for amateur boxing in Africa.
“My aim is to drive a sustainable model for boxing development in the country, hence the resolve to create a league system to support these young boxers,” – said Honourable Omolei Imadu, CEO of Yucateco Boxing Promotions.
“I will be contesting to be on the board of the Nigeria Boxing Federation in the forthcoming election. At that level, I will be able to initiate a holistic mechanism to advance the sports across the board,” – he added.
Looking ahead to season three in October, Yucateco Boxing Promotions will keep fighters sharp with an inter-local government tournament in July, plus Fight Night showcases in Ogun and Ekiti States.
