Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has spoken out about the incident at the 17th Headies Awards, where his microphone was unexpectedly muted during his acceptance speech.
The ceremony, which took place on April 27, 2025, at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, saw Odumodublvck win two awards, including the prestigious “Next Rated” title. However, his victory speech was abruptly interrupted when he began discussing his faith in Jesus Christ, with his mic being turned off mid-sentence.
The moment quickly gained traction on social media, sparking heated debates about religious expression and censorship in the entertainment industry.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Odumodublvck gave his account of what transpired on stage. He firmly believes his microphone was muted because he mentioned Jesus during his speech.
He also speculated that the situation might have unfolded differently had he chosen to praise Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu instead.
“I WAS TALKING ABOUT JESUS AND THEY TRIED TO SHUT ME DOWN. I AM HUNDRED PERCENT SURE THAT IF I WAS TALKING ABOUT HIS EXCELLENCY GOVERNOR BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CUT OFF,” he wrote.
Despite the awkward incident, Odumodublvck emphasized that he harbors no ill will toward the Headies organizers. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue his message, saying, “I GENUINELY HAVE NO BAD BLOOD TOWARDS THE HEADIES, RATHER, I AM GRATEFUL THEY PUT MY MIC BACK ON TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL.”
He concluded with a powerful statement: “JESUS IS KING. HE IS BEFORE NOW AND FOREVER. INDUSTRY MACHINE.”
Although the mic mute created a tense moment, Odumodublvck made it clear that he holds no resentment toward the event organizers and is thankful for the platform to share his message.
