Queues Return as Fuel Price Hits N1000 in Abuja

• Petrol now sells for ₦890–₦960 per litre nationwide

• IPMAN attributes price drop to Dangote’s new ₦840 ex-depot rate

• NNPC, MRS stations yet to adjust pump prices in Abuja

Petrol prices have dropped nationwide as the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) confirmed a fresh round of price reductions across major regions in the country.

This follows Dangote Refinery’s reduction of its ex-depot price to ₦840 per litre, down from ₦880.

Speaking on Wednesday, IPMAN President, Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi, said members in the northern region, including Abuja, now sell Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) for ₦930 to ₦940 per litre, compared to previous rates of ₦945–₦975.

In Lagos, the price has dropped to ₦890 per litre, down from ₦925. Meanwhile, in the eastern region, marketers now dispense fuel at ₦950–₦960 per litre.

At Empire Energy and Rainoil stations in Gwarinpa, Abuja, petrol now sells for ₦955 and ₦945, respectively — down from ₦975 and ₦960 earlier this week.

Despite the widespread price reduction, NNPC retail outlets and MRS stations in Abuja have maintained earlier pump prices as of the time of this report.

The recent cuts are expected to ease cost pressures on consumers, though analysts say price uniformity remains a challenge due to logistics and depot variation.
