Before his tragic death at the age of 28, Diogo Jota had already written his name in Liverpool’s history books with a string of breathtaking performances and record-breaking feats.

The Portuguese forward wasn’t just a prolific scorer; he was a player whose versatility and efficiency set him apart in one of the world’s toughest leagues.

Jota became Liverpool’s first player to score in each of his first four home league appearances, showcasing his clinical edge and ability to thrive under pressure.

He proudly netted Liverpool’s historic 10,000th goal across all competitions during a Champions League clash with Midtjylland in October 2020, etching himself permanently into the club’s illustrious timeline.

In January 2025, he tied the record for the fastest goal by a Liverpool substitute in Premier League history, scoring just 21 seconds after coming off the bench against Nottingham Forest.

This quick-fire impact made him one of the top five substitute goalscorers in the club’s history, placing him alongside iconic figures like Divock Origi and Ryan Babel.

Jota’s consistency extended beyond his finishing. He joined an elite trio of Premier League players by scoring over ten goals with his head, right foot, and left foot.

His powerful header against Leicester also played a crucial role in maintaining Liverpool’s record 64-match unbeaten home league run, underlining his influence in key moments.

Renowned for his efficiency in front of goal, Jota led Liverpool’s modern stars with a conversion rate of 19.3 per cent, surpassing even Mohamed Salah and Luis Suarez.

He made headlines in the gaming world too, topping FIFA 21’s Champion Leaderboard as the number-one ranked eSports player.

His €44.7m move from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 placed him as Liverpool’s 11th most expensive signing, but his impact on the pitch far outweighed his price tag.

Jota also ushered in a new tactical era for Liverpool, scoring the team’s first goal under manager Arne Slot, and setting the tone for what fans hoped would be another chapter of Anfield dominance.

Though his life and career ended too soon, Diogo Jota leaves behind a legacy defined by skill, speed, and statistics that speak volumes about his talent. He will be remembered as one of the most efficient and impactful forwards ever to wear the Liverpool shirt.
