The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Dennis Tamarakuro, also known as Keisha Reynolds, to one year in prison, with the option of paying a N1 million fine, for defrauding a U.S.-based NGO of $71,795.41 through an online scam.
Justice Emeka Nwite handed down the verdict on Thursday, September 4, 2025, after Tamarakuro admitted to impersonating a U.S. investor and rerouting the NGO’s funds via cryptocurrency platforms.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) successfully recovered more than $42,000 linked to the fraud, while the remainder was frozen by a U.S. bank.
The court directed that the recovered funds be returned to the NGO and ordered Tamarakuro to swear an affidavit of good conduct.
